Student testimonial
“Took my very first welding lesson from Drew at Boulder Welding. Drew is a great teacher and knows a wealth of knowledge. He has a great method of teaching, and really makes you feel welcomed. Even if you have no experience at all welding, Drew will get you stacking dimes in no time. I highly recommend Boulder Welding for ALL your welding needs. I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to learn something new and from a master welder. Thank you Drew!” – Bobby E.
This is a gif of TIG welding aka GTAW(Gas tungsten arc welding).
This is MIG welding aka GMAW(gas metal arc welding) up really close, and in slow motion.

You’re going to love this. I love teaching, and welding is easier than you’d think. The thing is though, you really should get it dialed in through several dozen hour of practicing what you learn at the lessons before you weld anything that if it breaks, someone could get hurt.

My lessons are located in Boulder.
They’re always one on one.
- As of August 1st 2023 pricing is
- $100/hr.($80/hr 17 and under or 65 and older).
- $130/hr. on weekends and $110/hr. for kids and seniors.
- I don’t do groups or couples. It turns into a question fest, and not as much gets done. Focusing on physically making good welds is the best way for you to leave with the best understanding so you can go home and practice the techniques and procedures of whichever process.
The first session is a minimum of two hours. After that can be anywhere from 1-4 hours.
You learn the difference between the three main welding processes(mig, tig, and stick), or the one you already know you want to learn about, the one that will be most practical for your intentions, and how to operate it proficiently enough to make something that could withstand a decent amount of stress. However, I do not certify people. It takes a substantial amount of practicing what you’ll learn in the first several sessions in order to pass even the most basic of dozens of levels of certifications that exist. Basic steel plate or tube welding is what you’d begin with(((aka preschool, and then there’s PHD far enough down the road to be had. And everything in between.)))
You should bring with you blue jeans, a long sleeve 100% cotton shirt, and leather or junk shoes or boots. The sparks from the welding don’t effect these materials much. Please do not wear poly blend clothing or gym shoes. The sparks will tear them up. I’ll supply you with a welding hood, gloves, and safety glasses.
I love teaching, so I try to squeeze lessons into my schedule where ever I can.
Let me know a date and time that works best for you you, and I’ll let you know if I can make it happen.
I don’t do Venmo or any other forms of app payment. Cash is preferred. Check is fine as well. And I charge 4% extra for cards.
